The most demanding course. And the most transformative.

PADI Rescue Diver Course in Hurghada

The PADI Rescue Diver is the course where you stop thinking only about yourself underwater and start looking out for others. It is not the easiest training—in fact, according to most divers who have taken it, it is the most demanding in the PADI curriculum. It is also, almost always, the most impactful. You learn to recognize stress in a diver before it becomes a problem, to manage an emergency situation calmly, and to bring someone back to safety. Many come away with a level of confidence they never knew they had.

The PADI Rescue Diver course is the most transformative step in your diving journey. Over 2 to 3 days, you'll learn to prevent problems, recognize stress in a diver, and react to emergency situations. More than a certification, it's a genuine transformation: you become a diver that others can count on, capable of acting calmly and effectively.

Course outline — 2 to 3 days

Theory (online before your arrival, or in person on site)

You study rescue psychology, recognizing stress in a diver, accident management, and emergency procedures both on the surface and underwater.

Self-rescue review and ten rescue exercises

You begin with a review of self-rescue basics, then move on to the ten exercises that form the core of the course: helping a tired diver, managing a panicked diver, bringing up an unconscious diver, and responding to equipment problems. Each exercise is repeated until it becomes instinctive.

Two real-life scenarios in open water

The course concludes with two complete scenarios in the open sea, where you must spot, assess, and manage an emergency from start to finish. It's demanding, sometimes nerve-racking — and that's exactly why this certification matters.

Frequently asked questions

This course has a reputation for being difficult, should I worry?

It's demanding, not discouraging. The progression is designed to guide you step-by-step toward the final scenarios. Most divers come out exhausted but proud, and say it's the course that made them grow the most.

I haven't done EFR recently, can I still sign up?

Yes. If your EFR is more than 24 months old or you've never taken it, we can organize it just before the Rescue, in one day.

Do I need to be an athlete to succeed in this course?

No. You need normal physical fitness and genuine motivation to learn, not special athletic training. The course is progressive, not a brute endurance test.
